Information about Funding


  • 1. To be eligible to receive a funded place

    To be eligible to receive a funded place, you must live in North Berwick Coastal Ward, or within the North Berwick High School catchment area or attend or a Nursery in the Ward and meet at least one of the 4 criteria below.

    • Those eligible for or in receipt of benefits.
    • Disabled children or young people
    • Those with additional special needs
    • Those who are care experienced of are young carers.
  • 2. Funded places are available by referral only.

    Funded places are available by referral only. Priority children) will be contacted by their Primary School. These families will be given a referral form.


    1. You (the parent/carer) complete the "Parent Carer Section" referral form with your contact details and the name(s) and date(s) of birth of eligible children and the activities section on page 2.
    2. Hand the form to their Primary School, who will then sign the "Referrer section" the form can then be emailed to kreid@eastlothian.gov.uk. Alternatively deliver to. Katie Reid, North Berwick Community Centre, 8 Law Road, North Berwick, EH39 4PN.
    3. We will then confirm by text or email that we are able to provide funding for some (hopefully all!) of the activities your child would like to do and authorise funding within 7-10 days. Once your funding has been authorised, please book your child in using the normal booking channels with the activity organisers.
  • 3. If your child(ren) has additional needs

    If your child(ren) has additional needs, please contact the organisation running your chosen activity, prior to booking, to ensure that they can meet your child(ren)'s needs.


    1. North Berwick Children and Youth Network will pay the fees once your booking has been confirmed.
    2. In most cases, the activity organisers will be able to invoice NBCYN directly. However, in some cases, you may not be able to complete the booking without payment being taken. Please contact the activity provider or the GVA if this happens, and we will work out a solution.
    3. You child then attends the activity and has fun.
